Professional Bio
A native of Southern Mississippi, Dr. Richard J. Burkett graduated with special distinction from Mississippi State University in 1977. He attended the University of Mississippi Medical School, graduating in 1981. A residency in general surgery was completed through Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan in 1986. Further training in plastic and reconstructive surgery was completed through residency at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.

 

Dr. Burkett has been in private practice in the DFW Metroplex for over 20 years. He is a member of the active staff of Methodist Hospitals of Dallas, North Texas Surgery Center, Mansfield Surgery Center and Surgery Center of Duncanville.

 

 

Personal Bio
Dr. Burkett and his wife Elizabeth have two sons, Guy and Nick. Guy is a 2009 graduate of University of North Texas. Nick is a 2009 graduate of Texas Christian University.

 

  

 

Dr. Burkett has had a long term interest in weight training and personal fitness. this interest is shared by Dr. Burkett’s oldest son Guy who is a busy personal trainer in the local Mansfield and Midlothian area. Guy, who has an extensive and rich athletic athletic background trains with Dr. Burkett regularly and provides personal training services to a number of Dr. Burkett’s cosmetic surgery patients who are looking to optimize their postoperative results and achieve an improved level of personal fitness and health. Dr. Burkett has had a life long passion in photography. Beginning primarily with sports photography, his interest have broadened into travel, landscape,and glamour photography.
